Wandervine 4.0 is here, the biggest update the app has had since the day it launched, and I wanted to tell you about it myself, not as a changelog, but as what it actually means next time you open the app.
One scan, right away
Almost everything in this update starts from one idea. The moment you open Wandervine, you should be one tap away from scanning a bottle. That was always the whole point of the app, and somewhere along the way, it had gotten buried under everything else we had added. 4.0 fixes that. Home is built around the scan now, pairing, your saved wines, everything else is still there, it is just no longer competing for attention with the one thing you actually came here to do.
We finally ask what you like

This is the change I am most excited about. Every verdict Wandervine gives you has always been smart. Starting with this version, it is also personal. The first time you open the app, we ask a few quick questions, bold reds or light ones, dry or a touch of sweetness, adventurous or a creature of habit. Answer one, answer all of them, or skip every single one. Whatever you tell us, the next bottle you scan gets read against your actual taste, not a generic read every other user sees too.
Why Wandervine 4.0 matters to me
Every wine app out there will tell you what a crowd of strangers
thinks of a bottle. I built Wandervine to do something different:
tell you what you will think of it. I’ve spent years on the floor
watching people freeze in front of a wine list, not because they
don’t have taste, but because nobody ever asked them what it was.
That’s been the idea behind Wandervine since the first version,
and honestly, Wandervine 4.0 is the first time the app has
actually lived up to it.
A few more things worth knowing
Your recent scans now show up right on Home, so the bottle you looked up last week is still one tap away. Pairing got simpler too, tell us what is for dinner, or just hum a song, and we will find something that fits. And if you are planning a trip somewhere with real wine country, that is all in one place now too.
Try it
If you have not opened Wandervine in a while, now is a good moment. And if you have never tried it at all, it is free to start, scan your first bottle and see what it tells you.
Thank you for being here, from the first version to this one.
Alejandro
